Staff reports $1.3 million Highway 226 waterline grant application, demolition contract, and September paving

Town staff told the council that supplemental documentation for a $1.3 million Highway 226 waterline grant has been submitted to the U.S. Department of Commerce, recommended Hypervenger Engineering for demolition contract administration at a condemned property, and said pavers are expected in mid-September for street work; the grant decision is pending.
Staff told the council that supplemental documentation has been submitted for a Highway 226 supplemental waterline grant through the U.S. Department of Commerce, in the amount of $1,300,000, and said the town is hopeful a decision will come soon.
The staff report also said Hypervenger Engineering is proposed to handle bidding, contract administration and coordination for demolition of a condemned property at 1116 South Dale Street, which includes asbestos removal overseen by a newly engaged environmental firm.
Staff reported stormwater GIS mapping by High Country is more than halfway finished and that engineers will meet with staff in the first week of September to scope the water and sewer asset inventory and assessment grant work. Staff said the streets and streetscape grant team will hold a second public engagement event on Oct. 5 coinciding with the Rotary and Barbecue Festival, where concepts for Locust and Oak will be presented.
Paving contractors expect to be in town the second or third week of September to carry out street paving projects included in the budget and related repair work. Staff also asked council members to help provide any contacts for CSX to aid project coordination.
