Mobile County adopts $82 million pay-as-you-go transportation program and calls bond referendum

Commissioners praised Sanderson and staff for assembling the program and supporting materials and adopted resolutions to approve the engineers' maps and reports for the program. The board also moved to publish notice and call a special election on issuing $82,000,000 in pay-as-you-go bonds to fund road, bridge and drainage projects.
In follow-up bond actions, the commission accepted a proposal from Regions Bank to purchase $30,000,000 in aggregate principal amount of the county's pay-as-you-go bonds and authorized issuance and related call/redemption actions for Series 2024b bonds.
What happens next: the commission approved resolutions and took steps to put the bond question to voters by special election; staff will proceed with required notices and bond-administration steps.
