After recent rain, Exeter lowers water restrictions from level 4 to level 3
Summary

Town staff told the Select Board on July 13 that recent rainfall and a change in the Drought Monitor justified easing mandatory restrictions on outdoor water use.
Public Works Director Steve Cronin summarized regional monitoring data and said Rockingham County’s July 9 U.S. Drought Monitor showed improvement (the county is divided between "abnormally dry" and "moderate drought"). Staff recommended reducing the town’s restrictions from level 4 to level 3 effective immediately.
Under level 3, landscape watering is allowed on specified days (odd-numbered addresses on Mondays and Thursdays; even-numbered addresses on Tuesdays and Fridays) and remains prohibited between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. The level 3 designation also lifts the prior prohibitions on filling swimming pools greater than 100 gallons, washing streets, driveways and sidewalks, and washing vehicles at commercial facilities. Cronin said groundwater remains below seasonal norms and that the town will continue to monitor conditions weekly and could return to stricter restrictions if drought conditions worsen.
The board voted to adopt the level 3 restrictions by voice vote during the meeting.
