Youth mural, farmers market and downtown blight cleanup among community items discussed

Council members received several community updates including a youth mural project, farmers market activity and downtown property remediation plans.
Kim reported the youth community mural project engaged 20 students, K–12, and should complete after the next session with a ribbon-cutting planned at the street fair. "We had 20 students, grades k through 12... They should be completed after tomorrow's session," Kim said. The first scheduled farm-stand market downtown was rained out, but vendors partnered with a nearby site and most sold out; the town plans to try the market again in coming weeks.
Kim also noted a prospective buyer for 201 North Main Street and said the town will repair broken windows and address pigeon issues on the 200 block to reduce blight. The council thanked organizers and asked staff to proceed with street-fair preparations and fireworks fundraising.
Next steps: staff will schedule the ribbon-cutting at the street fair and continue farmers-market outreach and downtown property remediation.
