Town public works reported progress on utility maintenance and requested a small pump update needed for compliance.
At the meeting a staff member reported: "I got the water loss audit submitted to IFA for last year... Got the sampling the yearly sampling scheduled for August 3" and described broken shutoff replacements and ongoing sewer-main cleaning. The staff member said work at the wastewater plant is nearly finished "We're 98% there," and noted an HWC pump-proposal required to remain compliant with community-crossings grant requirements.
The pump update proposal from HWC was presented as a $3,100 required update and a separate not-to-exceed figure of $27,400 tied to community crossings funding for 2027. The Chair asked for a motion to approve both items; a motion was made and seconded and the council approved the action.
The council also discussed an HWC change order concern raised by a member, who asked staff to follow up with HWC and to review any unexpected increases that could affect the town’s match share for grant-funded projects.
Next steps: the town will authorize the pump update and continue coordination with HWC on scope and change orders; routine sampling and sewer cleaning will proceed as scheduled.
