Mayor Rogers Anderson reported the administration had revised the county''s lobbyist contract to include pre- and post-legislative session reporting at no additional cost and said the lobbyist agreed to the addendum. Commissioner Petty said the contracted addendum addresses his primary concerns about transparency and accountability and withdrew his resolution. The motion to withdraw was accepted and the resolution was removed from consideration.
Commissioners highlighted the value of improved reporting and transparency but cautioned about drafting language that could unintentionally cover contracts held by other elected officials or departmental associations. The mayor and commissioners agreed reporting provisions in the amended contract represented a near-term solution; the body may revisit a narrower policy if needed later.
