Clarke County Board sets July 20 public hearing, appoints medical investigator and approves SICOG participation

The board voted to set Res. 26-118: a public hearing for July 20 at 9:00 a.m. on an ordinance to establish administrative procedures and fee limitations for court‑appointed personnel funded by Clarke County. The motion was moved by Brian Sorensen and seconded by Dean Robins; the vote was unanimous.
Res. 26-119 appointed Byron Jimmerson as Medical Examiner Investigator. The appointment was moved by Dean Robins, seconded by Brian Sorensen, and approved unanimously.
The board adopted Res. 26-120 to participate in the Southern Iowa Council of Governments’ (SICOG) FY2027 planning and economic development programs for Iowa Planning Area XIV (Adair, Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Madison, Ringgold, Taylor and Union counties) and approved a $6,130.25 county contribution to SICOG’s planning operations. The motion passed on a unanimous vote.
Land‑use business included approval of an entrance variance for Colby Rowley in section 10 of Liberty Township under Res. 26-121. The supervisors also approved several tax‑related resolutions: Res. 26-122 (approval of homestead credits and military exemptions for the 2025 assessment year, as recommended by the county assessor) and Res. 26-123 (approval of Family Farm tax credits to be applied to the 2026–27 tax lists, except where applicants do not qualify). Both motions passed unanimously.
Under Res. 26-124 the board adopted a resolution implementing the Iowa Department of Revenue and Finance’s estimated state funding percentages for property tax credits and exemptions for fiscal 2026–27 under Iowa Code §25B.7. The resolution records the department’s funding estimates: homestead and disabled veterans credits at 100%; elderly low‑income credit at 100%; agricultural land credit at 20.83255224%; and family farm credit at 15.07910352%. The motion was moved by Dean Robins, seconded by Brian Sorensen, and approved unanimously.
Res. 26-125 approved claims submitted June 30 through July 6, 2026, including routine utility, vendor, and payroll‑related items; a detailed claims listing was entered into the record. With no additional business, Dean Robins moved to adjourn, Brian Sorensen seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
