Pierz Council accepts donations to complete new park playground; opening set for July 9

Council Member Lynn Egan made the motion to approve the resolution; City Clerk Sarah Fyten seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Egan reported that the playground is complete and that children are already using it. Council directed staff to price sod and hydroseeding to finish landscaping; Egan said the council would not exceed the current $4,000 overage from donations.
The council also voted to donate the old playground equipment to the City of Genola. City Clerk Sarah Fyten moved the donation and Council Member Joe Stangl seconded; the motion carried unanimously. City Administrator Laura Wacker will prepare an agreement specifying that the equipment will be removed “as is.”
Separately, the council authorized posting for a Park Committee seat and approved moving forward with a maintenance agreement for the city basketball court. The council said it will promote the playground opening on the city’s Facebook page and public bulletin boards.
The resolution formalizes acceptance of community donations used to complete the playground; no additional funding sources were specified in the minutes. The council adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
