The Casselberry City Commission on Jan. 26 advanced Ordinance 26-1632 on first reading, approving a proposed comprehensive-plan amendment that would change the future land-use designation for five parcels south of the Geneva School at 1775 Seminole Boulevard from Low‑Density Residential (LDR) to Low‑Intensity Non‑Residential (LINR).
Planner Hunter McFerrin said the parcels—five in total, one already developed—were purchased by Geneva School in 2023 and that the change would make those parcels consistent with the remainder of the campus and allow for anticipated expansion. McFerrin said a subsequent zoning map amendment will follow to implement the land‑use change.
No members of the public spoke during the first-reading public comment opportunity. Commissioner Bush moved to approve the ordinance on first reading; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote, recorded as 4–0.
The amendment clears a policy-level step in the land‑use process; further permitting and a zoning amendment will be required before construction or site development occurs.
