North County RFA reports steady unit utilization, grant awards and facility needs for Arlington area

A North County Regional Fire Authority representative presented the RFA's second-quarter report covering unit dispatches, utilization, transports and staffing.
The presenter said Station 46 had 928 unit dispatches and Station 48 had 1,451 unit dispatches in the quarter and that unit-utilization rates averaged about 10'14%, well under a saturation threshold that would prompt deployment changes. He reported 613 transports originating within the city of Arlington and 1,315 transports across the entire RFA area.
The RFA speaker said there were no fireworks-related fire calls inside the city this year, though there were fireworks-related incidents in unincorporated areas, and he credited the city ordinance and community compliance for the drop in calls. The presentation noted staff changes and promotions, two battalion chiefs' retirements, academy graduations, and a facility study that identified two stations (Station 90 and Station 96) that may need replacement rather than remodeling.
The RFA also reported receiving an approximately $180,000 impact grant from a tribal gaming compact and an unsolicited $50,000 donation from the Gary Sinise Foundation administered by Amazon. The presenter offered to answer council questions and to provide printed annual reports to council members.
