The policy motion was made by a council member and seconded. The police chief said the program would require little to no overtime because supervisors and available shifts would cover staffing needs and that initially three officers would likely be eligible. “There’ll be little to no cost to implement this policy,” the chief said. The clerk called the roll; the measure passed with one councilor voting 'No.'
Staff will update the employee handbook and administer eligibility and scheduling according to the adopted policy.
