Bayport City’s planning commission and City Council on Tuesday approved the annexation of two small parcels now owned by Baytown Lane Enterprises LLC and recorded the change in the city’s zoning appendices, officials said at a joint meeting.
“This is actually more of a housekeeping item,” said Matt, a city staff member, explaining the two parcels were omitted from earlier Bay Haven annexation phases because of differing property descriptions and a prior owner who did not sign a petition. Matt said the parcels will be incorporated into Lot Number 14 so that the properties meet county and city minimum lot standards.
The planning commission moved to recommend approving a resolution to extend the corporate limits of Bayport to include the described unincorporated land; the commission’s members present voted to recommend approval. Council member Carl moved to adopt the resolution on the council’s agenda; Council members Bliss, Gilmore, Kipp, Hill and Mayor Hanson voted Aye on the roll call, and the council adopted the resolution.
The Council also adopted an ordinance amending Appendix B, Section 10 of the Bayport City Code to record the annexation and to zone the properties upon annexation. After adoption, staff said they will forward the resolution to the office of administrative hearings for final approval.
Why it matters: the action corrects an earlier omission in the Bay Haven development’s annexation records and consolidates the small parcels to meet current lot-size standards required by the county. The consolidation is administrative in nature but required to bring property descriptions and zoning into conformance.
What happened next: planning staff advised they will finalize administrative paperwork and proceed with the statutory notice and filing steps to complete the annexation process.
