The Casselberry City Commission on Jan. 12 approved the first reading of Ordinance 26‑1629, a rezoning and PUD agreement to allow a quick‑service drive‑through bakery and restaurant (proposed as Makoto's Cafe) on a roughly 1.04‑acre parcel at 380 State Road 436.
Hunter McFerrin, the city planner, told the commission the site is vacant and lies between Lamplight Way and Fern Park Boulevard; staff reviewed the concept plan and the community development director approved it and PNZ recommended approval at its December meeting. McFerrin said the request includes a PUD agreement and concept plan and that staff found the proposal consistent with the Unified Land Development Regulations and the comprehensive plan.
No members of the public spoke on the item. A commissioner moved to approve the first reading and the vote passed.
What happens next: The ordinance was approved on first reading and will return to the commission for subsequent readings in accordance with the city’s rezoning process.
