Roxbury selectmen schedule Special Town Meeting to consider temporary solar moratorium

Selectman Timothy Derouche moved on June 23 that the town place a temporary solar moratorium on the agenda for a Special Town Meeting scheduled for July 28 at 5:00 p.m.; Selectman Matthew Patneaude seconded and the motion passed 3-0. The board asked whether Dave Duguay could serve as moderator for the session.
The moratorium will be considered at the Special Town Meeting called specifically to address the temporary pause on solar-related permitting and activity. Appeals Board Chairperson Gerry Martin had earlier asked the Selectmen for input on residency requirements for the Appeals Board and the board noted other ordinance and policy items pending workshop review on July 14 (TIF non-profit grant policy and a food truck ordinance).
By voting to place the moratorium on the Special Town Meeting warrant, the Selectmen set the next procedural step as a town-wide vote; no moratorium language or duration was included in the Selectmen’s motion and those specifics will be presented to voters at that special meeting. The board asked staff to confirm moderator availability and to post notice of the Special Town Meeting per statutory requirements.
