Roxanne Salerno, Powhatan County's director of economic development, told the Economic Development Authority on June 8 that the Economic Development, Finance and Human Resources offices have moved into the former RHB building at 3829 Old Buckingham Road and that the space may become the location for future EDA meetings.
Salerno reviewed project updates and said work has begun on Foundry Lodge, RJ Wade Electric at Southpoint and a Southside Electric Storage Yard. She listed conditional use permits and rezonings under review or expected soon: a gas station at the Walmart site, Throttle Therapy, Morris Steel Storage Site, Worsham and the Bric Property CUP, which she said should go before the Board of Supervisors in June. Salerno and Lauren Baird also reported recent outreach, including attendance at the Chamber's State of the County event and a Business After Hours; Salerno noted more detail will appear in a press release and the next monthly report. She also reminded the board that Light Up Powhatan is scheduled for July 4.
The EDA recorded no formal vote on the project updates or the office move; items will be included in forthcoming reports and press materials.
