Glendo committee reports $12,695 donation for community center; steering group seeks arena upgrades

At its Oct. 9 meeting the Town of Glendo’s Community Center committee reported a $12,695 donation from Cottonwood Hall toward planning and development. Council Member Heather Schoning said the committee held its first meeting and scheduled the next session for Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m., and asked for additional community input.
Assistant Clerk Kelsey Crabtree confirmed the donation amount as part of the committee’s fundraising outline. Council members discussed clarifying property lines before starting physical work and said construction would likely begin in spring if fundraising and property details are resolved.
Separately, Tim Millikin representing the Keep Glendo Great steering committee asked the council to bless a fundraising effort to add an outhouse and bleachers at the town arena. Mayor Susan Juschka said she “sees no problem” with the committee continuing provided it returns with concrete proposals for council oversight.
Jay Collins also used New Business to note a new advisory position with Central Wyoming Hospice and to ‘spread the word’ about hospice activities in the area.
What’s next: The Community Center committee will meet Oct. 23 to continue planning and the steering committee will develop detailed proposals for council review.
