Piper board OKs $22,000 authorization for IXL renewals and reduces high-school parking fee to $10

District staff explained that KSDE previously covered IXL math state-wide for districts that opted in, but KSDE has discontinued that funding. Because the high school has come to rely on IXL for diagnostic screening and intervention, the administration recommended purchasing IXL Math for grades 9-12 and continuing IXL ELA for elementary grades. "KSDE would no longer be funding that for the entire state," an administrator said when explaining the funding change.
Separately, the high school's proposed parking-pass changes (initially a proposed $20 pass for numbered spots) were put on hold; the board approved keeping the pass at $10 for the 2026-27 school year after staff said the numbering and enforcement elements would be evaluated further.
Why it matters: The IXL purchase maintains diagnostic and intervention tools the high school depends on and ensures elementary ELA resources remain available. The parking fee change prevents an immediate increase for families while the district evaluates enforcement and numbering plans.
