Board amends University of Minnesota Extension MOU to keep expanded 4‑H staffing at 1.82 FTE

The board voted July 14 to amend the University of Minnesota Extension MOU to set 4‑H youth development staffing at 1.82 full‑time equivalent positions.
Carrie Robidoux, Northwest 4‑H program leader, presented participation and volunteer figures spanning the past decade and described three engagement models used in Clay County: community clubs, after‑school programs and site‑based programs (including New Roots Midwest and YMCA Moorhead). Carrie said the county’s volunteer system greatly increases program reach and noted that programming has been growing since recovery from the COVID period.
Commissioner Kravanoff moved to amend the MOU to refill the educator position at 1.82 FTE; Commissioner Ebinger seconded. The board took a roll call: Commissioner Ebinger (aye), Commissioner Kravanoff (aye), Commissioner Mojo (no), Commissioner Campbell (aye), Commissioner Bair (aye); the motion carried. The board directed county staff and extension to proceed with a special hiring round so the University can post the position in the August hiring window.
Extension leaders said continuing the staffing level supports after‑school programming in all five school districts, volunteer training, and the fair operations the board and public praised earlier in the meeting.
