Council approves $322,000 in advertised library appropriations for ADA and facility upgrades

The library also requested equipment to support community services, including a wide-format printer and a commercial kitchen for community rentals and programming.
Sheila (S6) provided fund balances: the rainy day fund cash balance was $193,762.06 and the LERF cash balance $298,276.38 (cash/liquid amounts, not including investments). The representative said requested dollars are from earned interest on long-term investments, not principal.
President (S2) moved to grant the appropriation and sign the forms that had already been advertised; the motion was seconded and council carried the motion. The library representative thanked the council and staff noted the paperwork will be uploaded to the state Gateway system once signed.
Council members asked about bid opportunities for local contractors and whether insurance would cover repairs (the representative said insurance might cover some repairs, but the library preferred to budget for full work to ensure access and a planned kitchen addition). The auditor’s office confirmed the advertised appropriation and explained the mechanics for approvals.
