Mayor David Stiffey introduced Alice Elkins, who was sworn in Aug. 26 and approved by the Smiths Grove City Commission as a probationary City Clerk.
The commission voted 5-0 to hire Elkins after Mayor Stiffey moved for approval and Commissioner Eric Schroader seconded. The administration said Elkins’ probationary appointment is intended to lead to a full-time city clerk position.
The action follows routine staffing steps taken during the commission’s regular meeting; no public comment or objections were recorded. The commission adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
