The Haskell County Commissioners voted to establish a child abuse prevention account under Resolution 31 26 66 after staff explained the statutory requirement.
Tina explained the purpose: “This is an account that needs to be set up by statute. It is for any monies that the jurors wanted to donate instead of accepting their pay for themselves.” She said the county had not previously set up such an account and staff is preparing the account for any juror donations.
After Tina's explanation a motion to approve was made and seconded; roll-call votes were recorded as 'Yes' for the named commissioners and the resolution passed.
The action creates a designated account to receive voluntary juror donations in place of juror pay. The board did not discuss projected donation amounts or a recipient organization for funds; staff indicated the account would exist to receive donations as allowed by statute.
