At the close of the public workshop, Manager Jackson asked the council to enter closed session pursuant to North Carolina statute language read into the record: a citation was given to the North Carolina statute provision authorizing attorney-client consultation and to the personnel exception. The mayor called the voice vote and members responded in the affirmative.
The stated statutory citations on the record were: North Carolina general statute (as read in the meeting) related to attorney-client privilege and the personnel exception. The council then moved toward closed session.
