County administration announced that Lori Johnson, the current Auditor‑Treasurer, will retire with a last working day on Nov. 25, 2026, and a final employment date of Dec. 18, 2026. County staff asked for board approval to post the position and for the board to participate in final interviews.
Staff outlined a tentative hiring timeline: post the position, first application review at the end of August, interviews in mid‑September and a six‑week overlap for on‑the‑job transition so the incoming appointee can participate in an election cycle, budget development and truth‑in‑taxation work. County human resources and consultants (David Drowns and Associates) reviewed and updated the position description and recommended placing the position on the county pay grid at grade 28.
Commissioner Campbell moved to approve posting and overlap; Commissioner Bair seconded. The board approved the recruitment motion. Commissioner Campbell moved and the board also approved the PDQ and placement of the position on grade 28; both motions carried by voice vote.
Ending: Staff will proceed with recruitment using the approved timeline and grade; the full board will participate in final interviews.
