Huron School District board approves $5.86 million in payments, adopts NEOLA update and OKs several hires

HURON — The Huron School District Board of Education, meeting Sept. 30 in the high school media center, approved $5,860,908.94 in accounts payable, accepted the district's annual audit with no findings, adopted NEOLA policy updates and approved multiple personnel actions and a 4th-grade out-of-state field trip.
The audit was presented by Nate from Rehmann Robson, who told the board the firm found no audit findings this year and highlighted that districts face many new regulatory changes. He thanked district staff member Jill Sauve "for always being prepared and organized." The board received the investment report and the statement of revenues and expenditures as information.

Board business and reports
Committee reports covered several operational topics. The Board Policy Committee (Mrs. DiMambro) said the fall NEOLA update was circulated and the committee will meet Oct. 29. The Facility Needs and Bond/Strategic Planning committees (Cory, Donovan) said projects are finishing and staff will work on a new bond in upcoming months. The finance committee (Jennifer) reviewed the audit, a DCTC purchase of the Trenton Athletic Club and the Wayne County Enhancement Millage. The LDFA (Scott Ferguson) reported its current project is paving Mercer Drive.
Board members made brief comments of appreciation to staff and recognition of student activities: several members thanked Jill Sauve for audit work, promoted the band’s upcoming performance at Flat Rock High School and noted Principal Appreciation Month. Superintendent Donovan thanked Ms. Tymensky and art students for Homecoming contributions and noted the equestrian team advancing to state competition.
The meeting adjourned at 6:22 p.m. following a motion by Scott Ferguson and second by Cox.
