Liz Hannam, the city's economic development director, told the Finance Committee the Riverfront project team added a permanent outdoor sound system to Renaissance Park after realizing rentals were not feasible for recurring events. Hannam said staff conducted an RFP with three quotes, value-engineered the proposal and secured a solution that was significantly less expensive than earlier estimates.
A purchasing communication proposed awarding a contract to New England Mobile Audio for the design and installation of a permanent outdoor sound system at Renaissance Park in an amount not to exceed $36,016, funded from the Riverfront TIF bond and project contingency. Hannam noted the vendor provided the system for free during a Riverwalk event as part of partnership support and manages another city site, Greeley Park.
After questions, the committee proceeded to a roll-call vote and approved the contract award. The project will be funded from the economic development fund (Riverfront TIF Bond) and the designated project contingency line.
