At the July meeting, the Brainerd Public School District board approved the 10-year LTFM revenue and expenditure summaries required by the Minnesota Department of Education. Marci (Marcy) Lord summarized the packet and flagged a substantial projected increase in revenue for fiscal year 2028 primarily attributable to higher local market value; she told the board the summary is a snapshot and projects will be reconciled at year-end.
Board discussion stressed that building projects are funded from the LTFM (special) fund rather than the general fund. Lord said the projected FY28 increase would put the revenue near $7.4 million; she added that if the $1.5 million referendum component were removed, projected totals would still be in the mid‑$5 million range.
The board also approved a routine resolution to call the school district general election so the district can work with county election officials across Cass, Crow Wing and Morrison counties; filings open dates and hours were noted on the record. The roll-call vote showed affirmative responses from directors and the resolution carried.
Separately, the board approved a motion to continue auditing services with CLA; the auditor's proposal included a roughly 3% increase from the prior year and the board approved the contract.
Votes at a glance: • LTFM revenue/expenditure summaries — approved (motion by Director Ward; motion carried). • Resolution calling school district general election — approved by roll-call vote (recorded yes responses during roll call). • Auditing services (CLA) — approved (motion carried).
