The Board of Aldermen approved on April 16 a contract with Camoin Associates for an independent economic and market analysis with a not‑to‑exceed cost of $49,935. City staff explained the study will assess local industry mix, identify market gaps and provide data that informs the forthcoming comprehensive plan update.
Carrie Patterson said the work will be complete by year‑end and will provide data and national comparables tuned to resort and tourist communities, not just local per‑capita measures. Aldermen questioned whether the city should fund a municipal study versus pursuing a regional study; staff said the contract will focus on Osage Beach land and existing businesses while incorporating regional context and prior housing/workforce studies.
The board approved the first reading and directed staff to proceed; no budget overrun was reported and staff said the project had been budgeted within the adopted FY2026 amounts.
