Trustees consider pool FOB fees and small capital projects at Bayshore Gardens work session

At the May 13 work session, Chairman Cori Howell outlined several facilities proposals and preliminary cost estimates, including a proposed non-resident FOB fee structure for pool and pickleball access, and estimates for a playground cover and pool electrical work. A private company also proposed installing and maintaining an ice machine at the marina in exchange for a revenue share.

Howell proposed charging non-residents $50 per month for pool access (allowing up to three guests) and $85 per month for combined pool and pickleball access. She said the board could set parameters or cap the number of FOBs sold. Trustees discussed the revenue potential but did not adopt a policy.

Howell reported that contractors would not give firm playground-cover bids without specific design details; she provided a rough estimate that a four-post cover for the large playground unit would cost about $22,000 to $28,000. She also said she has spoken with the district electrician and staff were assembling figures for needed pool electrical work before the board proceeds.

On the marina proposal, Howell said a company contacted the office offering to install and maintain an ice machine at no installation cost to the district and to pay the district a percentage of monthly sales if the machine is placed outside the marina gates by the center docks for public access.

No resident public comments were recorded during the session, and the board did not vote on any of the facilities items; trustees directed staff to gather firm bids and cost estimates for future consideration.
