Williamson County commissioners on July 13 approved a broad set of actions spanning appointments, capital projects, school funding requests and grant acceptances.
Appointments and nominations: The commission approved nominations to multiple boards and authorities, including the Public Building Authority, Water and Wastewater Authority, Agricultural Committee and the Hospital Board of Trustees. Juanita Patton was confirmed to the hospital board (recorded vote 24–0).
Budget and capital appropriations: Commissioners passed dozens of resolutions to amend the 2026–27 budgets and to appropriate funds for capital projects. Notable items included Resolution 7 26 3 amending the capital projects budget by $12,787,162 (as amended); Resolution 7 26 6 appropriating $5,500,000 of education privilege tax funds for debt service; Resolution 7 26 7 appropriating $5,000,000 of adequate school facilities privilege tax funds; and Resolution 7 26 8 appropriating $5,893,850 of education impact fee funds for general and rural debt service. Most of these motions carried with unanimous or near‑unanimous tallies (commonly 24–0 or 23–1 where recorded). The commission also authorized general purpose school fund tax anticipation notes of up to $13,000,000 (Resolution 7 26 35) to manage cash flow between property tax billing and collections.
Program and grant actions: The commission approved grant acceptances and appropriations for juvenile services, mental health court programs, health department educational support programs, and a $1,300 grant to the Williamson County Animal Center for veterinary services. A donation acceptance resolution (7 26 15) added $8,000 to the health department budget for a backpack giveaway.
Interlocal agreements and operational contracts: Commissioners approved an agreement for Franklin County to house juveniles in Williamson County’s juvenile detention center (payment $200/day; medical/dental at Franklin County expense) and authorized interlocal roadwork with the City of Fairview along Crow Cut Road.
Rules and personnel items: The commission approved a rules amendment fixing the date/timing of the annual June budget meeting (Resolution 7 26 37; recorded vote 22–1–1). A late‑filed Resolution 7 26 38 authorized the library director to hire a position before Jan. 1, 2027, to meet state maintenance‑of‑effort requirements (vote 24–0).
Votes were taken on the record for each resolution; most passed with recorded tallies noted in the meeting minutes. Several budget items were presented with explanatory comments from Commissioner Chaz Morton and County staff (Phoebe Riley) about the source of funds and intended uses.
The meeting recessed briefly and reconvened to complete the remaining agenda items and adjourned after final remarks.
