State funding reduces Hubbardston's dispatch assessment, saving about $36,000

Town Administrator Sean updated the Select Board on Central Mass Dispatch funding, saying the regional dispatch received more than $1 million in additional state funds and that Hubbardston's FY27 assessment has been set at $125,000, reducing the town's expected contribution by roughly $36,000.
Sean summarized recent meetings with state officials and regional dispatch partners and said the town advocated for relief with the state 911 board and the undersecretary of public safety. "A day later, we got word that central mass dispatch was going to receive over $1,000,000 in additional funding," Sean said, and added: "For Hubbardston, it means that our assessment for FY27 will be a 125,000. So, essentially, it helps to save the town $36,000."
He outlined that Central Mass Dispatch currently serves Rutland, Hubbardston, Warren, Oakham and Barre and is considering adding additional communities; he noted large disparities in community population sizes across the regional footprint. Sean said a slide deck and supporting documents would be posted online so residents can review details of the regional assessment and the distribution of new funds.
