The presenter identified the district’s required local contribution as $6,161,000 and said that, if the General Assembly budget is enacted as passed, the county’s required contribution could increase by an additional $155,000; staff said the district would not know the final county figure until the state budget is signed.
Board members discussed teacher pay and recruitment. One member asked whether the board could increase the starting step on the pay scale and spread the cost across other steps to improve recruitment, and staff said additional state funding could allow those adjustments. The board agreed to monitor state budget developments and to consider restoring high-priority items if additional funds become available.
