Middletown honors Tourette Awareness Day and world‑champion Irish dancers

Mayor Tony Perry read a proclamation declaring June 4 as Tourette Syndrome Awareness Day in Middletown and invited Claudia Amico, outreach specialist for the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome, to speak. Amico described the difficulties families face getting a diagnosis, said about "1 in 50 individuals will either have a tic disorder or Tourette syndrome," and urged support for affected individuals and families.
The committee also recognized dancers from the Veil Irish Dance School for high placements at the 2026 CRDM World Championships in Dublin. Coach Jillian introduced the competing dancers, including Margot Oxley (first place, age 14), and the committee applauded the team and invited photos.
Officials framed both recognitions as celebrations of community advocacy and local youth achievement; no formal action was required for either presentation.
