Lancaster Select Board reviews summer projects, building inspections and short-term maintenance work

Lancaster's Select Board used its May 4 work session to review an array of infrastructure and maintenance items ahead of summer work.

Town Manager Jessica Cyr walked the board through the town-wide monthly duties list and the attached summer projects list. She reported delivery of a building inspection letter for Colonel Town and said the town hall has an appropriately sized sprinkler line though substantial work remains; Colonel Town lacks an appropriate sprinkler line and staff discussed furnace concerns and a basement leak. Jessica Cyr and Chris Gagnon delivered the inspection letter to Megan and Eli and planned a follow-up after they had reviewed it.

Cyr reported a sewer backup at 21 Bunker Hill Street over the weekend; the homeowner hired ServPro and has submitted an insurance claim. She also said paving at the transfer station will take place on a Saturday and the facility will be closed during that work. Shane Beattie suggested highway crew can stockpile sand on rainy days as a filler task through the summer.

Other operational notes included that Barrington Solar indicated only minimum site work is needed for a new solar project, and that a meter installation at Riverside Campground is underway (Kathy-Jean Lavoie asked for a status update). Jessica Cyr said she hopes the Community Camp bridge (a FEMA repair) will be completed this year but said the schedule is uncertain and filing another extension is possible though not recommended. Leon Rideout also raised that a maple at Centennial Park needs removal and Robin Irving said the Conservation Commission can replace trees in the park.

The minutes do not record formal votes on these items; staff were directed to continue follow-up and project planning.
