Board approves Lincoln High north parking upgrade and Lovejoy Elementary classroom addition

Superintendent Smith recommended the board accept the proposed plans prepared by Studio Melee for Lincoln High’s north parking lot. Board member Josie Campos moved approval and Ms. Hopkins seconded; the motion passed 6-0.
For Lovejoy Elementary, Superintendent Smith recommended plans prepared by SVPA Architects for a classroom addition. Mr. Howell moved approval and Ms. Alonso seconded; the board approved that motion 6-0. Both public hearings had no members of the public wishing to speak.
Why it matters: The approvals allow the district to proceed with the next steps in each project’s procurement and construction planning. District staff told the board these approvals are routine steps that follow design completion and precede contractor selection and construction scheduling.
What's next: With board acceptance of plans and specifications, staff will proceed with contract and procurement steps for each project and return to the board as required during procurement and construction milestones.
