Council members heard a Chalkfest recap and approved several municipal housekeeping items, including vehicle repairs, an appointment to the housing board, and the city’s 2025 safety goals.
Organizers, introduced by the chair as Lauren and Marty, thanked the city for street closures and support and said Chalkfest attracted substantial out‑of‑town attendance this year. Marty reported Hazen residents accounted for roughly 47.5% of recorded attendees and estimated total attendance at about 1,400 people.
Public works staff reported diagnostic findings for a garbage truck and presented two repair estimates: a full wiring‑harness replacement at about $5,661.86 or an overlay repair for roughly $4,455. Councilor Stern moved to authorize the repairs following discussion about shop availability and warranty risk; the motion carried on roll call.
The council also approved a staff recommendation to appoint Renee Schneider to the Pioneer apartment board to replace Carlos, and it adopted the department’s 2025 WSI safety goals after staff said ongoing trainings support the plan.
Before adjourning, the council approved the biweekly bills by roll call. The meeting then adjourned.
