Trustees approve policy revisions; library schedules lift install and files REC application

On Feb. 9, 2026 the Cook Memorial Library trustees approved revisions to library policies including meeting attendance guidance, circulation language (lending periods changed to 'varies' and a sentence about video loans removed), confidentiality of library records, and a new Request to Access Minor’s Library Records form. Jennifer Davis moved to approve the proposed policy revisions; Eleanor Aparicio seconded and the motion was approved.
Building & Grounds reported several facilities items: carpet cleaning was rescheduled to April; a lift installation is planned to begin the week of March 16, 2026 and will require the library to close for at least two days (limited access may be available on those days); the main-level bathroom faucet and handles will be replaced to meet code. The committee said it submitted a Renewable Energy Credit (REC) application for the library solar system to Knollwood Energy; once the State Department of Energy approves the application, REC payments are expected quarterly and Knollwood may sell credits where they obtain the best price.
The Finance committee said a meeting is needed to review the Lloyd Hadden Memorial Fund. Trustees discussed staffing and technology capacity and noted staff willingness to pick up hours after a resignation.
