Library outlines US@250 screening, Tamworth Author Fest and summer programs
Summary
Cook Memorial Library announced a May US@250 Big Watch screening and facilitated discussion funded by New Hampshire Humanities, a Tamworth Author Fest in July, and summer reading with a dinosaur theme, plus a planned solar-energy open house.
Mary Cronin, the library director, told trustees on Feb. 9, 2026 that the library is planning several programs for 2026. A US@250 Big Watch screening and facilitated discussion is planned for May with funding from a New Hampshire Humanities grant; the grant also provides $300 for a library-developed 250th anniversary program carried out with the Tamworth History Center and the Recreation Department. Children’s activities will include skits about life in Tamworth in 1776 and a walking-tour booklet that will let residents and visitors follow local historic sites including Sally’s House and the Town Pound.
The library is also developing Summer Reading plans (theme: dinosaurs) and beginning work on Tamworth Author Fest, scheduled for the July weekend after Independence Day. Separately, the library plans an open house and community information day about the recently installed solar-energy system; the Energy Committee has expressed interest in partnering on that event.
Mary said outreach work is underway to coordinate events with other local organizations and that a community events calendar is being developed to reduce conflicts and promote attendance.
