Eagle Pass ISD approves consent agenda: handbooks, donations, budget tweak and personnel actions

The board approved donating two portable buildings to the city police department and discussed that the receiving city would be responsible for paying for building moves (district staff estimated moving costs in the range of $10,000–$20,000 per building depending on conditions).
On benefits and budget items, staff described the district’s stop-loss reinsurance that limits the district’s liability for catastrophic health claims: the deductible figure was discussed during the meeting and corrected in open session to $300,000. Trustees also approved one minor general-fund budget amendment totaling $500,000 that reallocates funds between functions (listed in board materials as transfers of $100,000 and $400,000 to cover needs including transportation and health services); staff said the amendment does not increase district revenues.
Following closed session, the board approved hires to fill vacancies and approved personnel contracts as discussed in closed session. All motions passed unanimously.
Trustees were provided reminders about upcoming events — new teacher orientation on the 27th and convocation on Aug. 6 — and required trainings for school safety and cybersecurity were noted.
