Superintendent Rod Morrison presented the Superintendent’s report at the Feb. 19 Southeast Island School District Board meeting, outlining district goals, recent engagements, upcoming events and feedback from a recent inservice.
Morrison invited school and department leaders to share highlights: Shaine Nixon discussed career and technical education initiatives and site visits; Mike Congdon reported from Barry Craig Stewart Kasaan School; Lisa Cates reported for Hollis School; Mackenzie Slayton for Howard Valentine Coffman Cove School; Patrick Trischman for Port Alexander School and the ATTSAA program; Andy Cook for Whale Pass School; Brandy Schmitz-Prefontaine for the Greenhouse/Ag Program; Scott Randall for Maintenance; Robbin Perkins Askew for Special Programs; and Astrid Richard-Cook for State & Federal Programs and Grants. Additional written reports were provided for AK-TRAILS correspondence/homeschool program, Naukati School, Activities, Business, Child Nutrition, Technology and the Student Representative.
Why it matters: The updates provide the board with operational context and inform upcoming agenda items, budgeting and program support.
What’s next: Staff will continue project and program work; the board included these reports in its packet for review and future planning.
