Brandywine board elects officers, approves $1.84 million in bills and multiple administrative appointments

At its Dec. 8 organizational meeting the Brandywine Board of Education elected officers through January 2027, approved payment of $1,839,629.24 in district bills and adopted a consent package that named financial depositories, compliance coordinators and vendors for 2026.
The Brandywine Board of Education reorganized its leadership and approved a broad consent agenda at its organizational meeting on Dec. 8.
Jessica Crouch was elected president and will serve until the January 2027 organizational meeting, the board decided by motion. Shannon Daniels was chosen as vice president, Charles Schmidt as treasurer and Amanda Fox as secretary; each officer election passed by a 6-0 vote.
The board also approved the consent agenda, including payment of district bills totaling $1,839,629.24 and approval of the regular meeting minutes dated Dec. 8, 2025. The consent package authorized the president, treasurer, assistant superintendent of finance and superintendent to sign district checks and designated the following institutions for investment or depository use in 2026: Michigan Liquid Asset Fund Plus (MILAF+), United Federal Credit Union, Honor Everwise Credit Union, Huntington Bank and Michigan CLASS.
The board appointed compliance and administrative coordinators for 2026: Section 504 coordinator Matthew Severin; school meals coordinator Deondré Croom; Title VI lead Elise Sorensen; Title IX investigators Amanda Lezotte and Evan Winkler; Title IX coordinator and ADA designee Elise Sorensen; Title IX decision maker Matthew Severin; Title IX appeals officer and civil rights designee Travis Walker; sexual harassment contact Amanda Lezotte; homeless liaison Amanda Lezotte. The board designated GLP Strategic Administrative Group and TSA Consulting Group as third‑party administrators for the district's 403(b) program, named Kruggel Lawton CPA as auditor and designated Thrun Law Firm, P.C. and Clark Hill, PLC as the district attorneys for 2026. Carmi Design Group and Christman Company were designated as the architecture and construction management firms, respectively, and Raymond James Financial, Inc. as underwriter.
As part of the personnel actions the board approved the appointment of Allen Westendorp as a middle school math teacher.
The board also set its 2026 meeting calendar and approved United Federal Credit Union as a depository for the year.
