Benson advances sewer contracts with The Wooten Company and seeks DEQ resolution for water tank

The Benson Board of Commissioners heard presentations June 10 on water and sewer infrastructure and was asked to place two contracts and a water-tank resolution on the consent agenda.
Project Manager Jay Murray said the town secured a DEQ project number for an elevated storage tank and that a town resolution is required to continue negotiations with the Department of Environmental Quality. He also reported that The Wooten Company responded to the request for qualifications for the I-40 sewer line and proposed engineering services in the amount of $118,700. Separately, Murray recommended contracting with The Wooten Company for engineering, monitoring and scheduling work for Lincoln Street and West Martin Street sewer replacements for $288,300.
Murray said the I-40 sewer line would run beneath I-40 to supply the wastewater treatment plant and noted one RFQ respondent had been received; the board agreed to add the resolution and contracts to the next consent agenda for formal approval.
