The Argo Community High School District 217 Board of Education met Jan. 21, 2026, in the Parra Board Room in the Village of Summit and approved a series of routine and operational items, including a recommendation to replace the district telephone system.
Board president Dr. Jennifer Grenier and six other members present voted unanimously to approve the minutes from the Dec. 17, 2025 regular and executive-session meetings and to carry forward a second reading of multiple policy updates. Secretary Luz Raymond moved and Vice-President Catherine Jozwiak seconded the motion to approve the minutes and the Press Plus policy updates, each passing on a 6–0 roll call.
Superintendent Dr. Brandon Cotter reported committee minutes from the District finance and policy committees and stated the district had received and fulfilled nine Freedom of Information Act requests. The HR director presented a package of policy revisions (listed in the board packet) covering governance, fiscal management, curriculum, student conduct, and related areas; the board approved those policy updates on a second reading.
In the business manager and IT report, Mr. Nick Simov described the district’s existing NEC telephone system, installed in 2008–2009, as beyond manufacturer support and increasingly difficult to maintain. With the district’s new AtlasIED IPX paging platform now in place, Simov recommended an on-premises 3CX phone system implemented by CrossRealms to provide modern paging and emergency-notification integration. The board approved the phone system replacement on a 6–0 roll call (Motion #2026-109).
The board also approved the January 2026 financial report and payroll (Motion #2026-110) and accounts payable/Imprest (Motion #2026-111), each on unanimous roll-call votes by members present.
Staff reported results from the district’s 10th annual employee wellness screening held Nov. 17, 2025: 49 employees registered with 43 completing screenings and 100% of participants finishing a health risk assessment. The district’s Employee Assistance Program, provided by Perspectives, was reported to cost $3,402.00 annually; staff said utilization was 5.82% this year, down from 16.93% the prior year (a decrease of 11.11 percentage points).
At 6:43 p.m. the board voted to adjourn to executive session to discuss personnel matters and pending or probable litigation under Illinois statutes (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) and 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21)). The board returned at 7:35 p.m. and then approved the January 2026 personnel report (Motion #2026-114). The meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m. (Motion #2026-115).
The board packet noted that seven articles about the district appeared in local outlets including the Desplaines Valley News, Southwest Regional Publishing and Patch.
