Gouveia told the board the district expects lower costs for homebound tutors and substitutes but has incurred increases for Behavioral Therapists, with three new hires reflected in personnel costs. She also cited higher custodial overtime tied to medical leaves and additional legal and mediation fees.
The presentation flagged a $200,000 deficit in transportation driven by growing in‑ and out‑of‑district needs, a shift Gouveia described as a principal driver of the variance.
Board member Mrs. Beylouni moved to approve the report; Mr. Ramsey seconded and the motion passed unanimously with five members voting yes and two members absent.
Superintendent A. Uberti reminded the public that the Annual Budget Referendum is scheduled for April 28 and that polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The meeting packet and weekly district newsletter will include ongoing updates from the Ad Hoc Facilities Planning Committee, which meets twice monthly through September.
