At its April 22 meeting, the Oxford Community Schools Board of Education approved routine business and several substantive governance items.
M. Aldred moved and J. Sommers supported approval of the consent agenda; the motion passed with six ayes. Later, J. Sommers moved and S. Gibson supported approval of multiple field trips (including OES 5th Grade, OHS Soccer, OHS BPA, OHS Cedar Point, OHS DECA, and OHS Golf Mt. Pleasant); the board approved those trips by a 6–0 vote.
On a separate matter, the board considered a FOIA appeal. J. Sommers moved and A. Acheson supported upholding the FOIA fee; the motion passed 5–1 with Trustee S. Gibson recorded as the lone Nay. The board also approved on a 6–0 vote a slate of policies (4229.01, 3207, 3303, 4113, 3115–3115H, 3118, 4101, 4102, 4104, 4105A, 5202) and listed Policy 5206.01 (Student Discipline) for first reading.
Board members also recorded support for the first reading of a resolution backing the Oakland Schools budget. Mr. Fitzgerald presented a resolution to issue an RFP for the administration building; the meeting record shows the presentation but does not record a final vote on the RFP at that time.
