Hope-Page School Board recognizes teachers’ association, accepts superintendent resignation and offers dual role to elementary principal

The Hope-Page School Board unanimously voted March 14 to recognize the Hope-Page Education Association (HPEA) as the bargaining representative for licensed classroom teachers for the 2025–26 school year under NDCC Section 15.1-16-11(1)(c).
The motion to recognize HPEA, moved by Janee Brendemuhl and seconded by Luke Juliuson, followed the board’s stated investigation into the petition and the board’s determination that HPEA represents a majority of the previously recognized appropriate negotiating unit. The motion carried with the recorded in‑favor votes from Luke Juliuson, Eric Parkman, Rita Kainz, Janee Brendemuhl, John Ihry, Cindy Hiam and Jeri Anne Larck; no opposing votes were recorded.
In the same meeting the board accepted resignation letters from staff, including the acceptance of Ian Grande’s resignation as high school principal and superintendent. The acceptance motion was moved by Luke Juliuson and seconded by Cindy Hiam and carried unanimously with the same recorded in‑favor votes.
Following the resignation, the board voted to offer the dual role of Superintendent and Elementary Principal to Heidi Kingston and authorized posting an open position for a high school principal. Luke Juliuson moved the motion to offer the dual role; Rita Kainz seconded it. The motion carried with the recorded in‑favor votes.
The meeting minutes show no public comment on these items. The board also approved an intent to hire Danielle Bremer as administrative assistant and updated Activity/Food Service account signers at Dakota Heritage Bank to include Alli Roller, Danielle Bremer and Nichole Kleven; those motions likewise passed unanimously.
