Houghton Lake board approves three-year snow-plow contract and Collins Elementary camera-server upgrade

Houghton Lake Community Schools’ Board of Education on Oct. 13 approved two contracts intended to keep district operations running through the winter and improve campus security.
In separate roll-call votes the board approved a three-year snow-plow services contract with Better Yards Landscaping at $53,525 per year to be paid from the General Fund, and a $19,990 camera-server upgrade for Collins Elementary to be paid from the Capital Projects fund. The snow-plow motion was made by Board member Souder and supported by Board member Halliday; the camera-server motion was made by Board member Oster and supported by Board member Jeske. Both motions passed 6–0.
The board recorded the funding source for each item in the agenda: the snow-plow contract was charged to the General Fund while the TKS Security quote for Collins Elementary was charged to Capital Projects. The minutes do not include additional contract details such as start date, service frequency, or warranty terms.
