The Pittsburgh City Council used part of its July 14 meeting to recognize two local cultural contributors.
Councilman Carrie Mosley introduced a proclamation honoring Jonathan Mallette, founder of Dream Shots Media, on the company's 10th anniversary and declared July 15, 2026 "Dream Shots Media Day" in Pittsburgh. The proclamation highlighted Mallette's work in photography and videography for youth sports, his collaborations with local organizations and national platforms, and his roots in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood. After the council approved the proclamation, Mallette thanked members and supporters: "I appreciate y'all presenting this to me," he said.
Councilman Sharsberg introduced a proclamation recognizing Carla Buz for 36 years leading Quantum Theatre and declared August 23, 2026 "Carla Buz Day." The proclamation summarized Quantum Theatre's experimental, site-specific productions across the city and noted Carla Buz's role in founding and directing the company; the council approved the recognition and community members joined the occasion for photos and remarks.
Both proclamations were adopted by voice vote and placed into the record. Council members noted the contributions of local arts and media organizations to Pittsburgh's cultural ecosystem and invited the public to upcoming performances and anniversary events referenced in the proclamations.
