Town manager reports on roof repairs, utility talks and code enforcement

Town Manager Kim Pickett provided operations updates at the Oct. 24 meeting, including facility repairs, utility discussions, a refund issue, and code enforcement activity.
Pickett told the board that the town's insurance denied a claim on the Town Hall building because of the length of time the roof had been leaking; Halo Roofing is scheduled to begin repairs in the first week of November. "Insurance denied the claim on the Town Hall building due to the timeframe and how long the roof had been leaking. Halo Roofing is scheduled to come the first week of November to begin repairs," Pickett said.
Pickett also said staff have begun conversations with Tucker Lake and that a contract is likely because Tucker Lake owns the pipes and the meter. She updated the board that staff are still working on a refund for Power of Praise; there was no fee schedule prior to 2014, so Pickett is reviewing minute books to retrieve those numbers and has not been able to contact Sylvia Alford.
On code enforcement, Pickett said the new officer has started issuing notices for violations such as trash cans not being pulled back, junk cars, overgrown grass, and signage violations. The report prompted no formal board action at the meeting but provided direction for staff follow-up.
