Board agrees to draft lease for Benson Foundation of Arts: proposed $2,400 yearly, five-year term

Calla Godwin, the Town's Assistant Town Manager, briefed the Board that Benson Foundation of Arts members were in agreement with proposed lease terms following recent meetings. Godwin said the proposed annual lease fee would be $2,400, which the town said includes the foundation's portion of utilities and janitorial supplies purchased by the town, and that the proposed lease term is five years.
Commissioner Dean McLamb asked a procedural question about keys; Godwin said the foundation would have either a board member or a designee as key holder when the foundation is using the building. Hampton Whittington said prior meetings indicated both groups want to work together and that they were close on terms.
The Board directed Town Attorney R. Isaac Parker to draft the lease and add it to the consent agenda for the next regular meeting for formal approval.
