Pam Kingston told the board she opposed the recently approved plan to add painted lines and signs on West Road because repainting lines will require recurring expense; she argued that adding more speed-limit signs might be more effective. Ken Caisse said additional speed-limit signs are not in the town's current budget and questioned whether they would materially change driver behavior; he suggested the matter be revisited at a later date.
Separately, the board discussed a flyer that had been mailed townwide without any indication of who sent it. Caisse said the flyer lacked the sender identification required by law and the board discussed drafting a policy to require committees and mailing organizers to include origin information on town mailings. Pam Kingston added that, while the flyer’s photos were attractive, it missed opportunities to provide helpful town information such as speed limits.
